:Mouthy Monday: Kristen Stewart Sucks

I have NEVER been a fan of “Robsten” (is that actually their nickname?).

In my opinion, Robert Pattinson is too much of a pretty boy. Other than that, I don’t really have any issue with him. Kristen Stewart, on the other hand, is just a complete idiot (even more so now that she went and screwed up her relationship by cheating). She has absolutely ZERO personality, and her eyes always look so vacant. Rob can totally do better than her.

So, when I came across this little funny, I found it to be totally appropriate:

Did you know that there’s a rumored 50 Shades of Grey movie? I found a pseudo-trailer starring this stupid couple. Kristen Stewart pretty much ruins every movie she’s in, and I REALLY don’t want a 50 Shades movie ruined by her!!

Tell me, what do you think about Kristen Stewart?

You can also read my friend Mark’s take on this stupid girl here.

And the verdict is…?

I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.

I enjoy being able to keep up with people – and I know that people (at least a couple) people enjoy keeping up with me.

A few months ago, I did a pretty good cleaning up of my Facebook friends. If it was someone who I never interacted with, or they never interacted with me, they got the boot. It actually made me feel a little bit better, as if some weight was lifted off my shoulders.

However, I still feel like there’s a weight called “family”. I’m not talking about all family – just the ones who don’t really care about you. They just are friends with you because they’re “supposed to be”. They comment and like some family’s status updates and photos, yet they don’t ever say or do anything about yours.

How is this acting like family? Some of you may take this is whining or complaining – I guess in some ways it is…

I think it’s absurd to play games. I don’t feel that I should have to continue to bend over backwards, trying to be kind and involved in someone’s life – regardless of who they are, family or not.

Sometimes, I really think that Facebook should have a button such as this one:

And so, the question is: What’s the verdict on deleting those so-called “family” members off of Facebook?

Happy Friday!

Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day – Get a Grip, People

I can’t get away from all of the hype around “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day”, which is apparently today, August 1. I get info about it through email, Facebook, random people I come into contact with, and it’s all over TV.

Let me just say…

I think all of this “Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day” stuff is so dumb. Which means that I think the people on BOTH sides of the argument (both gays and non-gays), who are rallying for their cause, are a bunch of idiots.

If you know anything about Chick-Fil-A at all, you know that they are run by a Christian family. They are closed on Sunday’s, for heaven’s sake. This actually makes me very sad, because there are days when I really NEED a Chick-Fil-A diet coke, and of course this generally happens on a Sunday.

So, why should it come as a surprise to anyone that the President of Chick-Fil-A, Dan Cathy, spoke out about his beliefs on the “traditional” marriage, between a man and a woman? Last time I checked, we live in the USA. Which means that we are entitled to free speech. Whether you agree, or disagree, with what someone has to say on an issue is irrelevant.

I was raised in the Baptist Church. I was taught that being gay is wrong.

Now that I am an adult and can make my own decisions, I have friends that are gay and friends that aren’t. And, I love them all equally.

My opinion? The bible teaches us that we should be tolerant of others. I find it apalling to see how many people consider themselves to be “good Christians”, and yet they are filled with such hate and intolerance toward others. It’s really quite sad.

I love Chick-Fil-A. As I’ve said before, I’m pretty sure they put crack in their food (that’s not very “Christian-like” is it? ;-) ), which is why I keep going back. However, I think that making a special day to prove your intolerance of others is ridiculous.

I also think that those who support gay rights are going overboard. I mean, come on, banning a Chick-Fil-A from being built in your town? Holding up protest signs that say “Your chicken sandwich comes with a side of Homophobia”? Showing up on Friday for “Kiss Mor Chiks” day? Doesn’t this show intolerance as well, just on the opposite end of the spectrum (no pun intended…)?

Today is Wednesday, which means it’s a Gymboree Day for me and my girls. Chick-Fil-A is down the street, and we generally stop there each week as a treat, after Gymboree. Today, we will NOT be stopping by. Just because I think all of this is so stupid. I guess I will have some splainin’ to do when my day comes…

People have a right to their beliefs, and they have a right to express them. It doesn’t mean that you have to agree with them or ignorantly join a cause. Focus your anger and intolerance of others into something else. I promise you will be much happier!

Happy Wednesday!

Nanny Bloomberg – Baby Formula on Lockdown?

As I sat down on the couch today, ready to consume my Twix bar AND peanut butter M&M’s (boy, some of the crazies would have a field day with that, wouldn’t they…that’s almost as bad as drinking a Super Gulp!), a story came across the news about baby formula.

According to Fox News (and NO, this is not the only source that I get news from – I also listen to CNN, as well as read the gossip rags, because those are always true, right?!), Mayor Bloomberg is encouraging New York hospitals to “hide” the free cans of baby formula so that more mothers will breastfeed their children.

Starting Sept. 3, the city will keep tabs on the number of bottles that  participating hospitals stock and use — the most restrictive pro-breast-milk  program in the nation.

While the so-called “Latch On NYC” program is voluntary, several of the city’s hospitals have agreed to comply – even documenting a medical reason for every bottle a newborn receives.

Under Latch On NYC, new mothers who want formula won’t be denied it, but  hospitals will keep infant formula in out-of-the-way secure storerooms or in  locked boxes like those used to dispense and track medications.

My opinion on all of this? Complete and utter bullshit. Who died and made Bloomberg God?

What gets me even more? Bloomberg is not a woman – he has never had to whip it out and feed a baby. So, how does he even have the right to try to dictate what a mother should or shouldn’t do?

With that being said:

  • Yes, I did breastfeed Goose Face.
  • No, I didn’t last longer than 3 weeks.
  • Yes, I probably should have tried harder than I did.
  • No, I didn’t really care about giving up (obviously…).
  • Yes, I think it made me a better mother for not continuing to breastfeed because it eliminated the massive stress that was making us all crazy.
  • No, I didn’t even try to breastfeed Crazy Monkey.
  • Yes, it probably is the reason as to why she is the crazy child that she is.

Happy Monday!

***A few disclaimers***

In no way do my opinions for my own choices reflect what I believe other mothers should do.

I feel that a mother should be able to do whatever she feels is best for her child, within reason.

I do not feel that it is my place, or anyone else’s place, to dictate “the best” way to nourish a child.

As my mother so lovingly reminded me…if you decide to comment, don’t forget that I have PMS and GPS. ;-)
