Family First

For the past month or so, I’ve really been struggling with finding the time to spend with my family. I love my hubby and my girls with all my heart, and I feel like I’m missing out on so many things!

What is taking up so much of my time? My Handmade Parties to Go shop. I’ve been very blessed with the amount of orders and custom requests that I have received, and am thankful for the additional income that it has brought in. However, I seriously underestimated the amount of time it would require.

I feel like I eat, breathe, and sleep party supplies. I wake up thinking about parties, and I go to bed thinking about parties. I spend more time on the computer and at my desk creating and getting orders together, than I do with my kids and my hubby. My parenting is lacking, and my housekeeping is lacking.

That is so backwards from what my life should be. I should be embracing the time that I get to spend at home with my girls (even though I don’t think I’m really cut out for this job). I should be spending  more time cuddling on the couch with my hubby, especially since he’s hardly ever home.

And so, I’ve decided to stop making my party supplies. It totally sucks, because I feel like a failure – and I HATE admitting to failure. But, I guess I shouldn’t look at it that way…I should look at in in the sense that I’m choosing to put my family first and foremost. Because they are what truly matters.

Don’t worry, though. Just because I’m closing up the party shop doesn’t mean that I won’t still be around! I will still be right here, on this little blog of mine. I may add some random items to my shop (because I’m such a random person, that would totally make sense, right?!) at some point. You just never know…

I am going to continue working on my Scentsy,  Grace Adele, and Velata business, too! I have such a passion for this company, and it’s a great way for me to get out, meet people, and have fun – based on MY schedule! (Shameless plug: If you haven’t checked out my sites, please do so! You can visit here, here, and here. Oh, and you can also keep up with my personal specials here.)

And, the most exciting thing coming up? I am partnering with Kimmie over at Sugar and Dots beginning this week. I already do a weekly recap of her segment “What I Whipped Up Wednesday“, and now I will be working with her every Friday to bring you tons of style tips and trends! I know, you’re probably wondering how I have anything to say about style, considering I spend my days in yoga pants. But, I really DO know fashion! Check out her blog tomorrow for my intro post. You won’t want to miss it!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me on my journey here in California, including with my blog and my shop! I truly appreciate you!

P.S. I will still be finishing up any outstanding orders that I have received either in my shop or through giveaways, so don’t worry! :-)

  1. I feel your pain! I’m in the exact same situation! I’ve been so torn this week thinking that I can’t even keep up my daily posts and projects, so maybe I’ll just cut back to a few times a week! But yes! Family always comes first! They’ll never get to be our kids again, and we can’t let that pass us by! it’ll be sooooo worth it!
