Are you looking for some family friendly activities to do for this Labor Day weekend? Here are my top 5!
1. Head outdoors
One of the best things to do as a family is to spend time together outside. The weather is still relatively warm, and it may be the last chance you have to enjoy time outdoors before the cooler weather arrives. Visit a park nearby, head to the lake, or relax at the beach. You can even spend some time in your own backyard with these fun water toys and outdoor games.
2. Host a BBQ
What is more traditional than a Labor Day barbecue? You don’t even have to leave your own backyard to have some old-fashioned family fun! Invite friends, family, and neighbors, and cut down on the cost and time involved by making it a potluck. Here are some yummy Labor Day recipes to try, including 7-layer Pasta Salad, Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Corn on the Cob, and Sparkling Raspberry Limeade.
3. Get Crafty
Holidays are always a great time to make crafts with your kids. Crafts provide a great way to work on something as a family, as well as help your child with his/her fine motor skills and creativity. Check out these Labor Day craft ideas, or head to your local Michael’s and purchase one of their many craft kits!
4. Have a family game night
Family game night provides some fun competition, as well as a great bonding experience! It also creates special memories that last a lifetime. You can even get creative by planning a “themed” game night – have fun with your theme by dressing up in character and serving themed snacks. Check out these fun themes for inspiration. Not sure where to start when planning a family game night? Here are a few tips that may help.
5. Visit a local theme park
If you’re like our family, and don’t really know anyone to spend the holiday with (or you just don’t want to worry about getting things together for a party, craft, or game night), visit your local theme park! Many theme parks offer special parades, fireworks shows, and other events for the holiday. Even if your theme park doesn’t have anything special planned, your family will enjoy spending quality time together before the back-to-school grind really sets in!
I would love to hear your plans for this Labor Day Weekend. We will be spending time at Disneyland, of course!
